Bishop Michael Fleming Visits Fogo Island, 1834

Topics :
Church of England , Established Church , Fogo Island , Tilton , Newfoundland

There is a beautiful story in Genesis of Jacob fleeing from his brother Esau, and sleeping at a place to be called Bethel and how he used a rock for a pillow. The location of the spot, although never definitively identified, became a hallowed one, and legend even has it that the pillow is now the Stone of Scone and used in the coronation ceremonies of British monarchs.
