Our office was graced with the presence of children from New Fun Land Daycare on July 29 and it was an eventful 30 minutes.
The children were interested in seeing how we go about our day-to-day roles in the office, who was responsible for each department and task and of course what the office looked like.
During the tour there was the opportunity for them to see the first edition of the Pilot from September 1961 in our “morgue”. The children were intrigued to see such an old newspaper and while one of our employees flicked through the pages a child pointed to a very old photograph stating the gentleman in the photo “was probably dead”.
What else could you do but laugh?
They are so full of innocence and speak exactly what is on their minds. At all times. I absolutely love hearing stories about the cute things children say.
I’ll share a true story about a little boy traveling with his grandparents from St. John’s to Lewisporte.
Before embarking on the journey to return home, his grandparents asked him if he needed to go to the bathroom. Asking several times before hitting the road, the answer was always no.
Once in the car his grandparents travelled to the nearest coffee establishment for their usual coffees and stressed that they wouldn’t be stopping until they arrived in Clarenville. There they planned to get some snacks and stretch their legs.
The drive was going great until the little boy suddenly felt the urge to relieve himself.
The grandparents had no intention of pulling over so they proceeded to try to convince their grandson to pee in the empty coffee cup, which they would dispose of at the next stop.
Weary at first, the little boy later relieved himself. After putting the lid back on the cup, the boy grinned and while offering it up to his grandfather said,” Here’s your double-double Poppy!”
Only out of the mouths of babes!
