Bonfire Night

Nov. 5 - Everyone is welcome to attend the community bonfire at the entrance to Woolfrey's Pond Municipal Park at 7 p.m. Complimentary pop, wieners and marshmallows.

U.C.W. Fall Bazaar

Nov. 14 - The U.C.W. Fall Bazaar, dessert/tea, bake and craft sale and mystery parcels will be held at 2 p.m. at St. Matthew's United Church auditorium.

Community Breakfast/Bake Sale

Nov. 28 - A community breakfast/bake sale will be held at Lewisporte Kin Centre from 8-10:30 a.m. with proceeds going to support the Cooper family. Eat in only.

BOYD'S COVE

St. George's ACW

Nov. 17 - St. George's ACW will be having their afternoon tea/bake sale/mystery parcels at 2 p.m. Everyone welcome.

St. Paul's ACW

Nov. 21 - Please reserve for St. Paul's ACW Fall Sale and Afternoon Tea at 2 p.m. Card game at 8 p.m. All are welcome!

Influenza and Pneumococcal Immunizations

Influenza and Pneumococcal Immunizations are being provided for adults 65 and older, residents of long-term care homes, adults and children with a severe chronic illness. For residents of Lewisporte and surrounding areas, please call 535-0777 to book an appointment.

Notre Dame Skating Club

It is not too late to register for Lean to Skate Programs. There are still spaces in Canskate, Preschool and Boys Learn to Skate. Just drop by the rink before the start of the program to register. We skate Monday and Thursday from 6-7 p.m. Come join the fun! For more information call 659-3223 or e-mail notredameskatingclub@gmail.com.

The club's first fundraising event is chocolate bars. Also, in time for Christmas, we will be selling cookie dough in November. If you would like to place an order for cookie dough, please call 659-3223.

Regular Hook-ins

The Rug Hooking Guild of Newfoundland and Labrador - Notre Dame Branch will have their regular weekly hook-ins on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. at the Women's Institute Room, Bowater Ave. No formal instructions. RCMP

A set of keys with remote lock for a GMC truck were found at Faulkes Dock near Little Burnt Bay. With positive identification the owner of the keys can pick them up at Lewisporte detachment. A key for a Ford vehicle with remote start was found at the Michael's Harbour access road. With positive identification the owner of the key can pick it up at Lewisporte Detachment.

Fall Sale and Afternoon Tea

Nov. 7 - Faith United Church, Campbellton, will be holding their annual Fall Sale and Afternoon Tea at the Recreation Center. Our regular assortment of baked goods, handicrafts and knitted goods will be available, as well as a delicious assortment of cookies, sandwiches and a great cup of tea. Doors open at 2 p.m.

Information Sessions

Nov. 4 - Are you a woman thinking of starting a business? Are you already involved in a business but looking to expand? Join the Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) for two free information sessions. The start-up session, from 9 - 9:30 a.m., looks at what there is to consider before starting a business. Family Literacy Day

Family Literacy Day (FLD) is celebrated every year on Jan. 27. The theme for 2010 is "Singing for Literacy". As part of Family Literacy Day preparations, Literacy NL is encouraging local community organizations, early childhood groups, schools and libraries to engage families in a literacy-related activity. A limited quantity of Family Literacy Day materials is made available to organizations to foster learning. Please contact Literacy NL at 1-800-563-1111 to discover how you can get involved and order these materials.
