Calypso Foundation's 25th Annual Fantasy Auction
April 30 - The Calypso Foundation's 25th Annual Fantasy Auction will take place at the Kinsmen Centre. Viewing of items and wine tasting will start at 6 p.m. and the auction will start at 7 p.m. Door prize is two tickets anywhere Westjet flies. (Must be present to win). Fashion Show
May 3 - The United Church Women will be hosting a fashion show at 7:30 p.m. New spring fashions will be modeled by clothing stores in town. Admission charge includes a dessert and lunch following the fashion show. This is a public event. Everyone is invited.

Lewisporte Athlete Day
May 8 - The first ever "Lewisporte Athlete Day" to be held to help support young athletes and their families and coaches. Our Athlete Day is focused around the theme, "More Important than the will to WIN is the will to PREPARE to WIN". The event is sponsored by The Town of Lewisporte and Central Health Regional Wellness Coalition Community Grant. The event will be held at the Lewisporte Arena from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event is for any athlete involved in an organized sport for at least three months of the year and between the ages of 12 - 18 years old. There is no cost to attend the event, but you must register. Registration forms can be picked up and returned to the town office before April 28. More detailed information will be provided after registration. Guaranteed to be an informative day.

35th Anniversary Celebrations
May 15 - The Kinsmen and Kinette Club of Notre Dame are preparing to celebrate their 35th anniversary with a special evening event. They welcome any former members to join them in the celebration. If you were a member of the Kinsmen or Kinette Club of Notre Dame and would like to attend their 35th anniversary celebrations please contact Life Member Rex Coish at 535-2777.

Looking for Support
The South and Central Health Foundation are raising funds to purchase a wheelchair accessible bus for residents of North Haven Manor and Lakeside Homes. Our goal is $100,000. We are asking for your support to help make this project a success! To donate, or host a fundraiser in support of the wheelchair accessible bus project, please contact the foundation at 292-2393.

CARMANVILLE, FOGO,
LEWISPORTE AND TWILLINGATE

Checkpoints
Effective immediately and until April 30, 2010, the RCMP Detachments from Carmanville, Fogo, Lewisporte and Twillingate will continue to conduct checkpoints in their detachment areas as well as joint checkpoints. If you want to report an impaired driver call your nearest RCMP Detachment or call 1-800-709-RCMP. If possible provide the plate number and description of the vehicle and the identity of the driver.

LOON BAY AND AREA

Collecting Pop Tabs
We would like the people of Loon Bay to know we are collecting the tabs from pop cans for wheelchairs for children. All you have to do is save up the tabs and we will collect them in November. If you would like them collected before that please contact Marie Dove at 261- 2436 or any UCW member.

A Day for Women by Women
May 1 - A Day for Women by Women will be held at New World Island Academy, Summerford. This will be a fun and informative day for women who share an interest in good health and a passion for life to gather together. Topics of the day will include: heart health, menopause, healthy eating and more! Lunch will be provided. There will be Entertainment and Prizes! Registration is free! Please call 884-1370 for your registration form or pick up a form at Twillingate or New World Island Pharmacy! The deadline to register is April 12.

Young Folk at The Hall
Take a room full of singers, accordions, fiddles and guitars and what have you got? It's Young Folk at the Hall in Appleton and Glenwood from June 11-13 - that's what!! If you are between the ages of 8 -18 and like to play or sing Newfoundland traditional music this is for you. Free registration for the program is now taking place.
