35th Anniversary Celebrations
May 15 - The Kinsmen and Kinette Club of Notre Dame are preparing to celebrate their 35th anniversary with a special evening event. They welcome any former members to join them in the celebration. If you were a member of the Kinsmen or Kinette Club of Notre Dame and would like to attend their 35th anniversary celebrations please contact Life Member Rex Coish at 535-2777.

Hardware and Bake Sale
May 15 - St. Matthew's United Church will be having a Hardware and Bake sale from 10 a.m. to noon at the United Church Auditorium.

Young Hunter Heritage Day
May 29 - Youth age 10-16 are encouraged to register for Young Hunter Heritage Day to take place at the Notre Dame Rod and Gun Club. Participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Open to male and female participants. Two separate sessions offered with one in the morning and another in the afternoon. Equipment and lunch are provided. Small registration fee. Lewisporte 7th Annual Relay For Life
June 12 - The Lewisporte 7th Annual Relay For Life will be held on June 12, 2010 at the Lewisporte Recreation Complex from 2 p.m. - 2 a.m. Any teams interested in registering can contact Melanie Tucker at 535-3080 or Penny Pardy at (709) 489-0315/1-866-545-9534. Any survivor who wishes to register or obtain more information on the Survivors Reception can contact Dawn Elliott at 261-2379. The general public is welcome and encouraged to come out and help pay tribute to the lives of loved ones who have struggled against this terrible disease and celebrate survivorship.

Looking for Support
The South and Central Health Foundation are raising funds to purchase a wheelchair accessible bus for residents of North Haven Manor and Lakeside Homes. Our goal is $100,000. We are asking for your support to help make this project a success! To donate, or host a fundraiser in support of the wheelchair accessible bus project, please contact the foundation at 292-2393.

Checkpoints
Effective immediately and until May 31, 2010, the RCMP Detachments from Carmanville, Fogo, Lewisporte and Twillingate will continue to conduct checkpoints in their detachment areas as well as joint checkpoints. If you want to report an impaired driver call your nearest RCMP Detachment or call 1-800-709-RCMP. If possible provide the plate number and description of the vehicle and the identity of the driver.

Collecting Pop Tabs
We would like the people of Loon Bay to know we are collecting the tabs from pop cans for wheelchairs for children. All you have to do is save up the tabs and we will collect them in November. If you would like them collected before that please contact Marie Dove at 261- 2436 or any UCW member.

Community Service Announcement
FASD Central is a non-profit organization committed to building awareness about the effects of drinking alcohol during pregnancy. FASD Central will be co-hosing workshops for youth, grades seven to twelve on May 14, Wing's Point. These workshops, T.G.O.F. (The Goods on FASD) will deal with the outcomes that can occur when teens consume alcohol. The workshops will consist of a video "No Safe Amount", discussion groups, interactive tables, prize draws, pizza, T-shirts and take-away bags. To find out the times of each workshop and to pre-register, contact a local youth centre or a high school, in your area.
