Craft and Bake Sale

Oct. 23 - Please reserve for the annual Craft and Bake sale sponsored by the Lewisporte Women's Institute. Tables are available for rent by calling Mabel Taylor at 535-0122, June Hunt at 535-2558, Joan Jacobs at 535-6538, Lorna Young at 535-8242 or Venissa Fancy at 535-2381.

Checkpoints

Effective immediately and until June 30, 2010, the RCMP Detachments from Carmanville, Fogo, Lewisporte and Twillingate will continue to conduct checkpoints in their detachment areas as well as joint checkpoints. If you want to report an impaired driver call your nearest RCMP Detachment or call 1-800-709-RCMP. If possible provide the plate number and description of the vehicle and the identity of the driver.

Executive Meeting

June 17 - The Retired Teachers' Assn. of NL (Central division) will hold an executive meeting in the Anglican Parish Hall, Fogo, during the a.m. At 1:30 p.m. there will be a general information session for all retired teachers on Fogo Island. For information call 266-2570, 256-4617 or 535-2569.

34th Annual Monte Carlo Charity Fundraising Event

Call for Applications

The Memorial University of Newfoundland Medical School Class of 2013 is now accepting applications for proceeds from Monte Carlo night, our annual charity fundraising event. Last year, we raised $57,000, which was shared among seven deserving charities in Newfoundland and Labrador. If your charity would like to apply for a portion of the proceeds from this years Monte Carlo night, please send us an application outlining the following: description of charity (50 words or less), history of charity, services/programs offered, population served, demonstrated need, contact information and charity registration number. To be eligible to apply for proceeds from Monte Carlo night, you must be a registered charitable organization, and must not have received money from Monte Carlo in the past five years. Applicants should note that, due to the high volume of applications received, applications not in compliance with the above guidelines will not be considered. Applications should be postmarked no later than July 2, 2010. If you require further information, please contact the Office of Student Affairs, Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland, at (709) 777-6690, or e-mail the Charity Selection Committee at charityselection@munmed.ca.
