Camp GLOW - Firefighting Camp for Women
Applications for Camp GLOW 2010 are now being accepted. Camp dates are July 19-23 in St. John's and Aug. 9-13 in Stephenville. Camp GLOW is a unique, one of a kind camp that isn't offered anywhere else in Canada. The weeklong event provides a wonderful opportunity for women to experience what a career in firefighting would be like. The camp offers an amazing opportunity to experience firefighting, tests physical ability, and builds confidence through a demanding and exciting series of activities while having fun. The program is modeled after what real firefighters go through during training. All participants will have a chance to use real firefighting equipment under the supervision of active female firefighters. Exercises, classes and activities include introduction to the firefighter's personal protective equipment, use of tools and ladders, search and rescue and live fire training. Women must be 17 years of age or older to participate.
