Community Event Listings

In The Community listing is a regular feature in The Pilot newspaper and online (www.lportepilot.ca). Events within The Pilot coverage area being held by not-for-profit groups/organizations can be advertised in this section at no charge (for up to three weeks). LEWISPORTE

Yard Sale

June 25 - There will be a yard sale fundraiser for the Children’s Wish Foundation at the Lion’s Centre in Lewisporte beginning at 9 a.m. - rain or shine. Anyone with items to donate for the yard sale can contact Diane Martin at 535-8139.

Kayaking Safety Day

June 25 – Kayak Newfoundland and Labrador will be holding a kayaking safety day at Woolfrey’s Pond Municipal Park, Lewisporte at 10 a.m. There will be two hours of boat handling and rescue demonstrations and practice. All participants must have their own kayaks and equipment. Please be there by 9:30 a.m. Beginning kayakers are especially welcome. Lunch will be provided, compliments of KNL. For anyone interested, there will be a short coastline paddle in the Bay of Exploits in the afternoon. This paddle is not a KNL sponsored event. Giant Flea Market and Bake Sale

June 25 – There will be a giant flea market and bake sale from 9:30 – 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church Hall.

Lewisporte Public Library

The Summer Reading Program registration will take place on June 28 at the library and continue throughout the summer for ages 2-13. The program will begin on July 7 and will take place every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. This year’s theme is Splash! Celebrate Summer! There will be weekly prizes. Come and join the fun!!

Library Hours

Lewisporte Public Library hours are Monday – closed, Tuesday 10-12 a.m., 1:30-5 p.m., Wednesday 1:30-5 p.m., 6:30-8:30 p.m., Thursday 1:30-5 p.m., 6:30-8:30 p.m., Friday 10- 12 a.m., 1:30-5 p.m., Saturday 12-4 p.m. and Sunday – closed.
