LEWISPORTE & AREA/TWILLINGATE/NEW WORLD ISLAND — With 2011 being a tremendously successful year for the Lewisporte Area subchapter of the Children’s Wish Foundation, they are making one last fundraising push to help make the wishes of children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses come true.

For this they have teamed up with the Lewisporte RCMP detachment for the second annual RCMP Children’s Wish Tree.

On Tuesday, November 29 at 7 p.m., everyone is welcome to come out to the RCMP detachment on Main Street and join in the 2011 Wish Tree launch. There will be hot chocolate and candy canes for all.

For every $25 raised a bulb on the Wish Tree is changed from red to white. Donations can be made in any dollar amount, they don’t have to necessarily be $25 each. If you can donate $5 that will be combined with other donations and when that accumulates to $25, another bulb changes colour.

Donations can be made at the RCMP Detachment office right up to Old Christmas Day on Jan. 6, or you can mail them to the RCMP at P.O. Box 310; Lewisporte, NL; A0G 3A0. Remember to provide your full name and mailing address if you wish to receive a receipt.

This initiative proved to be extremely successful last year, with the Lewisporte detachment raising the second highest amount in the province of those that took part, bringing in contributions totalling $2,512.
