Twillingate Public Library

Family Literacy Day

Jan. 27 – The Twillingate Public Library will celebrate Family Literacy Day from 4 – 5:30 p.m. Stories! Games! Food! Fun! Come and bring your favourite book and dress as a storybook character. All children must be accompanied by at least one family member. Hot dogs and beverages will be provided. To register, call 884-2353 or email bhamlyn@nlpl.ca by Jan. 25.

Jan. 19 – Story Time for three and four year olds from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. every second Thursday (three year olds – caregiver required)

One-on-One Tutoring Service

Would you like to learn to read or improve your reading skills? The Lewisporte Area Laubach Literacy Council may be able to help you. We are offering a one-on-one tutoring service. All materials are free of cost. We are also looking for more volunteers. If you would like to become and help someone with their reading or if you need tutoring, give us a call: Joy at 654-3227 or Mabel at 535-0615.

Checkpoints

Effective immediately and until January 31 the RCMP Detachments from Carmanville, Fogo, Lewisporte and Twillingate will continue to conduct checkpoints in their detachment areas as well as joint checkpoints. If you want to report an impaired driver call your nearest RCMP Detachment or call 1-800-709-RCMP. If possible provide the plate number and description of the vehicle and the identity of the driver.
