Submissions
In The Community listing is a regular feature in The Pilot newspaper and online (www.lportepilot.ca). Events within The Pilot coverage area being held by not-for-profit groups/organizations can be advertised in this section at no charge (for up to three weeks). Community Bus

The next grocery run is May 30. The medical/dental NDBMHC date is May 29. The medical NWI Community Health Centre date is May 22 and the church run is May 27. For more information please call Doreen Roberts the Community Bus Outreach Coordinator at 884-4244. If you are a senior, a person with a physical disability, or someone with limited access to transportation, we invite you to join us.

 

TWILLINGATE

 

Twillingate Public Library

May 17 - Rhyme Time for babies and toddlers from 10:30 – 11 a.m. every second Thursday (caregiver required).

May 24 - Story Time for three and four year olds from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. every second Thursday (three-year-olds – caregiver required). For more information please phone 884-2353 or email bhamlyn@nlpl.ca.

Accepting Donations

The Notre Dame Bay Memorial Hospital Auxiliary members are accepting donations for the booth at the Fish, Fun and Folk Festival this summer. We are asking for monetary donations, knitted goods, craft items, baked goods and preserves. May we count on your support? Your items may be left at the Gift Shop or dropped off to any Auxiliary member.

 

LEWISPORTE

 

Blood Donor Clinic

May 16 – A blood donor clinic will be held at the Lions Club from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. Book your appointment to save a life at 1-888-236-6283.

 

Lewisporte Public Library

Story Time spring session for preschool age children 3-5 will be held on Thursday afternoons at 1 p.m. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

 

Silent Auction Rescheduled

May 31 - Join us for the Relay For Life Silent Auction. Come out for a fun night with “The Brainy Bunch” at the Kinsmen Centre. Doors open at 7 p.m.. Contact Rochelle Fudge 535-3138 or Roxanne Keeping 535-2584 after 4 p.m. for more details.

 

Baby Song Program

The Salvation Army Lewisporte is hosting a 10 week (April 18- June 20) Baby Song program. Baby Song combines music, singing and fellowship for parents and children ages 0-4years. Sessions will be every Wednesday 1:30-3 p.m. Registration is free! Checkpoints

Effective immediately and until May 31 the RCMP Detachments from Carmanville, Fogo, Lewisporte and Twillingate will continue to conduct checkpoints in their detachment areas as well as joint checkpoints.  If you want to report an impaired driver call your nearest RCMP Detachment or call 1-800-709-RCMP.  If possible provide the plate number and description of the vehicle and the identity of the driver.

Newfoundland and Labrador Laubach

Literacy Council Inc.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Laubach Literacy Council Inc.  (NLLLC) is seeking individuals across Newfoundland and Labrador, interested in helping others reach their full literacy potential by becoming a tutor. Training provided! Or, if you or someone you know is in need of a tutor please call. All services are free.

Are you are former tutor for a Laubach Literacy Council? Are you still interested in tutoring but would like a refresher training first?

Newfoundland and Labrador Laubach Literacy Council Inc. (NLLLC) has launched a provincial fundraising campaign called “Roll Pennies for Pages”.
