Canada Day Celebrations
June 30 - Campbellton Canada Day Celebrations will be held starting with a parade of vehicles at the end of Birchy Point Road at 9 a.m. A bicycle parade will be held at the Community Centre parking lot at 10 a.m. with first, second and third place prizes for decorated bicycles. Birthday cake and beverages for everyone with a free hotdog for each child. Let's show we are proud to be Canadians!

The Recreation Committee of Port Albert will be hosting Port Albert Day on July 7 beginning at 12 noon. Lots of food, games of chance and other attractions. Something for the whole family. Come and spend the day with us. See you there.

Summer Reading For Fun
July 3 — Registration for the Summer Reading For Fun program will take place from 9 a.m. – noon (12 p.m.). The registration and program (set for July 4-Aug. 10) will take place at DieTrac Technical Institute. This program is for school age children who could benefit from the assistance of trained tutors in a one-on-one setting, along with some group activities. Space is limited so parents/guardians are reminded this is a first come, first serve registration. Lewisporte Public Library
The Lewisporte Public Library will be offering a summer reading program for ages 2 to 13. This program will be held every Thursday evening starting July 5 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. There will be stories, crafts, games, prizes and more. This year’s theme is Imagine! You can register at the library starting June 26. Come join the fun!

Checkpoints
Effective immediately and until June 30 the RCMP Detachments from Carmanville, Fogo, Lewisporte and Twillingate will continue to conduct checkpoints in their detachment areas as well as joint checkpoints. If you want to report an impaired driver call your nearest RCMP Detachment or call 1-800-709-RCMP. If possible provide the plate number and description of the vehicle and the identity of the driver.

Call for Charity Applications
The Memorial University Medical School Class of 2015 is now accepting applications from registered charitable organizations in Newfoundland and Labrador for proceeds from the Monte Carlo Gala, an annual charity fundraising event to take place this coming November 2012 at the St. John’s Convention Centre. If your charity would like to receive a portion of the proceeds from this year’s Monte Carlo night please email charityselection@munmed.ca to receive an application. Completed applications should be returned via email no later than July 6, 2012.
