Gotta’ get me’ moose b’y
The 2012 moose season opened in the Lewisporte area on Sept. 5.
Here are some safety tips to use while moose hunting. Also use the common sense approach whenever you’re in the woods hunting during the hunting season.
When you leave for your hunting trip, always tell someone exactly where you are going and when you expect to return.Wear orange clothing or an orange safety jacket, usually with florescent stripes on the front and back.In case of emergency, stay calm and remain in the area. Do not wander.Carry a compass or a GPS with a map of the area you’re hunting in, and know how to use them.Refrain from drinking alcohol while hunting.Always carry a survival kit with you.Make sure the safety device on your weapon is on at all times.Be sure to check the weather conditions for the area where you are going hunting
and dress accordingly.
Be extremely careful and may you have a very pleasant and successful hunting trip.

Thoughts for today
• Do not wait for ideal circumstances nor the best opportunities; they will never come.
• No one means all they say, and very few say all they mean.
My own thoughts
• Do not put off until tomorrow, what you can do today.
• There is no wrong time to do the right thing.
Newfoundlander amusingly welcoming home his friends from the mainland
My dears,’ youse’ looks some sick, nar’ bit a flesh left on ya.’ Sur’ you looks like one a’ them Newfoundland Light and Power poles. More fat on a finishin’ nail. Come on down my dears’ and have a good jiggs dinner and some lassie buns. That’ll put some meat on ya.’ bones. Sur if youse’ gets’ any skinnier, youse’ goin’ to break off. True story.
Inspiring verses
Love can’t be bought,
It is priceless and free-
Love, like pure magic,
Is a sweet mystery.
Like roses in a garden,
Kindness fills the air
With a certain bit of sweetness
As it touches everywhere.
Life is a garden.
Good friends are the flowers,
And times spent together
Are life’s happiest hours.
When you do what you do
With a will and a smile
Everything that you do
Will seem twice as worthwhile.
Memories are priceless possessions
That time can never destroy,
For it is in happy remembrance
The heart finds its greatest joy.
You’ll find when you smile,
Your day will be brighter,
And all of your burdens
Will seem so much lighter.
We wouldn’t enjoy the sunshine
If we never had the rain.
We wouldn’t appreciate good health,
If we never had a pain.
