TWILLINGATE -

A treat. Visitors to the Church Heritage Museum from June 29 to Aug. 3 are in for just that, a treat - if it's music they want.

And there is no admission charge. Starting June 29 and every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. the church museum will come alive with traditional and classical music as Steven Rogers of Durrell entertains like no other - on pipe organ, button accordion, digital piano and tin whistle.

Locals and returning visitors who have attended the sessions over the past two summers have all been high in their praise of his talents. His pipe organ presentations are masterful and his ability with the button accordion is like no other. And, be assured, this year's offering will be no exception.

The pipe organ, of course, will be the Bevington that was installed in the building when it was a Methodist church back in 1903. It was idle for a number of years in the late 1900'3 but restored in 2006 and plays better than it ever has before.

Mr. Rogers has a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and Music History from Memorial University but he has also completed three years in the Bachelor of Music degree at Memorial where he majored in pipe organ before turning to trumpet. His aspirations now have taken another route for in September he will be entering the Atlantic School of Theology where he will pursue a Masters degree in Divinity.

His appearances at the Church Museum this summer, however, will be cut short because of a commitment he has made to attend a youth camp being run by the United Church at Kelowna, British Columbia. Mr. Rogers will be a leader of a group of some 10 youth for a period of four weeks. As such, he will be one of just 11 leaders chosen from across Canada.

"I saw the position advertised and never dreamt that I would be chosen, but I was," he said. "So I'll be leaving on Aug. 4 and I'm looking forward to it."

Meanwhile, locals and visi-
