TWILLINGATE Shes done it again!

Well known local gospel singer Irene Bridger has received a nomination for the Inspirational Album of the Year 2007 as a result of her CD Living Prayer.

For Ms. Bridger, its the second time around as she was nominated for the same honor two years ago based on her second CD Love. Although she failed to get the nod in the first round she was more than pleased with the experience.

The nomination comes again from the Gospel Music Association of Canada (GMAC) based in Calgary and includes an invitation for the artist to attend the awards ceremony and associated workshops on Oct. 24-26.

And I intend to go, said Ms. Bridger and with her this time will be her husband Ken and her sister Madge Jennings who wrote several of the song on her CDs.

Her first CD was in 2003 with Heart Full of Love, then the second was You two years later. Her last CD A Living Prayer was released in June of 2007.

She is anxiously looking forward to the second trip to Calgary, she explained, because now she has the experience of the first nomination.

Im not as intimidated anymore, she said, and then added, kind of.

Ms. Bridger explained that her nomination was in a category with four others two from Ontario and two from New Brunswick, with five nominees being the maximum in any one category of some 52 categories sponsored by GMAC.

I particularly like the idea that the category for which I have been nominated will be evaluated by some 10 judges rather than by all those attending the Awards, she said. And she looks forward to being involved in the various workshops being offered. I feel also that my sister Madge will appreciate the sessions where songwriters are critiqued.

The Pilot and her many supporters wish her well.
