LEWISPORTE -
On July 28, a parade of three antique cars drove through the streets of Lewisporte catching the attention of many local people.
Betty and Junior Burt from Botwood met two couples from Maine five years ago during a trip to Prince Edward Island and immediately hit it off especially since they were all antique car enthusiasts.
This year John and Cindy Jones as well as Steve and Gail Berry decided to take a trip to Newfoundland for the first time and visit their Newfie friends. As luck would have it, during the time they were here, the Town of Gander held a car show where all three couples entered their beloved antiques.
Mr. And Mrs Jones took home two awards for their 1939 Graham Sharknose including the Participants Award which was voted on by all the car show participants as well as the award for the most unique car.
Since leaving their homes in Maine, the Newfoundland tourists put close to 3000 km on their cars touring the province. They said this is a beautiful country and so far, they all have really enjoyed the visit with their friends.
