There was an interesting visitor to the Little Burnt Bay marina last week. A beluga whale was in the area for a few days rubbing along underwater boat lines and keeping a number of curious visitors entertained at the same time. Pictured is Dale Wells encouraging the whale to make an appearance for a photo. Earlier in the day the whale came right up out of the water and touched people's hands but it seemed to be a bit camera shy when the Pilot showed up. The whale came close a few times (it can be seen swimming under the boat in this photo) but didn't break the surface for a close-up.

I wonder if her name is Wilma. We used to have a beluga in the Chedabucto Bay area in Guybsorough for years. Then one day she was never seen again, either migrated or was harmed :(
