STONEVILLE – An eight-year-old boy who admitted to beating and killing a neighbours dog last month with a barbeque fork, killed several chickens and ducks on July 27.

A resident of Stoneville found his beloved family pets beaten to death, and notified the RCMP immediately after also discovering his shed had been ransacked while he was away. Six birds were killed and five others were so badly injured that the animals couldn’t walk. Those animals had to be euthanized after it was determined they were too injured to recover.

The RCMP interviewed the same eight-year-old boy who killed the 12-pound Pomeranian on June 4. No charges were laid in that incident, however the RCMP and Child, Youth and Family Services were addressing the issue because of the boy’s age.

“Evidence was obtained to link the child to the crime (involving the birds),” said RCMP Sergeant Wayne Newell. “The matter was then referred to Child, Youth and Family Services.”

Sgt. Newell said no charges will be laid in this latest incident either because the boy is under 12 years of age.
