The Deer Lake Detachment of the RCMP is investigating an incident of careless use of a firearm.
On Saturday, March 10, the RCMP responded to a call of careless use of a firearm. A resident of Carol Ave. in the community of Pasadena reported that they found a bullet hole in their house, after hearing a loud bang and one of their basement windows broken. Fortunately there was nobody in the room at the time the bullet penetrated. Police found an entry point for what appeared to be a bullet, and located an actual bullet stuck in the curtain.
The police also located a pit off of North Harbour Forestry Road where it appeared that someone had been target shooting recently. The house and the pit are in a direct line of each other, with the pit being approx two kilometres away.
No suspects have been identified at this time and Deer Lake RCMP would like to remind anyone who is target shooting or sighting in rifles to do so in a safe manner, ensuring there is sufficient backstop to prevent any stray bullets from leaving the area.
