The provincial government announced today that contracts with Employment Assistance Services providers across Newfoundland and Labrador have been extended for the period covering April 1 to Sept. 30, or up to a maximum of six months.
This extension will be carried out through amendments to Employment Assistance Services contracts currently in place with the Department of Advanced Education and Skills, a news release states.
“A key priority for Advanced Education and Skills is the need to better integrate, streamline and enhance employment and training programs and services,” said Joan Burke, Minister of Advanced Education and Skills.
“We value the work and services provided by all organizations contracted by this government. This extension will provide the necessary time to examine programs and services, such as those provided by third-party groups and organizations, to better ensure they are meeting the intended goals, objectives and mandate of the new department.”
