Hunting accident case gets postponed

GANDER – The man accused with accidentally shooting a woman while hunting in the Philpott’s Road area on Nov. 11, 2011 postponed his plea until Nov. 20 to seek legal advice.

GANDER – The man accused with accidentally shooting a woman while hunting in the Philpott’s Road area on Nov. 11, 2011 postponed his plea until Nov. 20 to seek legal advice..

The Little Burnt Bay woman, 68 at the time, was on a family outing on the day of the incident. She suffered serious injuries to her upper body, but has now since recovered.

A 36-year-old man was charged on Sept. 14, 2012 with criminal negligence causing bodily harm, careless use of a firearm, breach of probation, and under the Wildlife Act; hunting big game without a valid license, unlawfully discharging a firearm during open season, and possessing or discharging a weapon in or from a vehicle.
