UPDATE: Three dead in accident near Gander

Initial reports indicate that three people were killed when a transport truck hit a vehicle west of Gander this evening.

RCMP officers are on the scene, and traffic services specialists are en route to figure out what exactly happened.

The initial call came in to the police around 5:30 p.m., and the highway was closed for 10 kilometres near Twin Brooks just west of Gander.

One lane of the highway is now open.
