Dear Editor,
This morning (April 5) I went down to the wharf adjacent to the CN wharf, and when I got there, I surveyed the scene on the wharf. I was appalled by what I saw there. Even though there is a container on the wharf to put garbage in, people had thrown their garbage, and coffee and drink cups on the wharf creating a very unpleasant sight.
Why anyone would do this is beyond my understanding. People should be concerned to keep the town as clean as possible, and should not be throwing their garbage around. Even if there were no container there to put the garbage in, there would still be no excuse for such actions.
This is not only a problem on the wharf. When one drives around Lewisporte, he can easily see a lot of coffee cups and other debris littered around our town. This should not be.
Come on people. Let’s do our part in keeping our town clean. Where is our citizens’ pride? In the future throw your coffee cups and other garbage in the containers provided, and not on the wharf.
Yours for a cleaner Lewisporte,
Max Hart
