GREEN BAY - The Lewisporte Midget Seahawks travelled to Green Bay on March 20-22 for the Intertown League 'B' Division play-offs, played at the Triton Arena.

The Seahawks had four games scheduled to determine who played in the championship. The Midget Seahawks started off the tournament off in fine fashion, defeating La Scie 8-3. That win was a good confidence booster as they played three games the next day. The first early morning match-up saw the Seahawks lose to Glovertown 6-3. The team didn't let that win get them down however as they defeated the host Green Bay South 11-1 by way of the mercy rule. That left one game remaining on their schedule with a win and the Seahawks would be moving on to to play in the championship against Glovertown. The Seahawks played hard in the last round-robin match and defeated Springdale 11-6 to advance to the final.

A win for the Seahawks was seen as fitting redemption against the Glovertown team that toppled them early in the tourney. The championship game was a tough one for both teams but in the end, The Midget Seahawks wanted it the most defeating Glovertown 5-2 to win the gold medal.

Coordinator Ches Cooper attended the tournament and commented that "the boys played hard and had a great tournament."

The Seahawks also welcomed back three of their players that have been playing 'AAA' hockey as well this year thus limiting the time they could play with the Seahawks. It was that added boost from these players that put the Seahawks over the top and made them a team that was hard to beat. The Midget Seahawks will now look towards the All-Newfoundland Easter tournament coming up in April which will be played in Wesleyville.
