FOGO ISLAND, NL – The readers of Travel + Leisure magazine are fans of Fogo Island Inn.
The inn has been selected as best resort hotel in Canada for the magazine’s World's Best Awards 2017 readers’ survey.
Fogo Island Inn was also named 12th on Travel + Leisure’s list of the top 100 hotels in the world.
“We are honoured to be recognized amongst such respected properties,” Fogo Island Inn general manager Steve Cannizzaro said in a news release.
Travel + Leisure editors asked readers across the globe to report on their best travel experiences for the survey. Properties were rated based on such characteristics as facilities, rooms, location and food.
“Travel + Leisure’s annual World’s Best Awards provide a picture of what the world’s most discerning travelers are finding most satisfying in travel right now,” said Nathan Lump, the magazine’s editor-in-chief.
“What’s clear to me this year is how much they are drawn to experiences that aren’t just enjoyable but provide something richer —cultural immersion, mental and physical wellbeing, a true sense of adventure.
“It’s not easy to satisfy this group, but the destinations, hotels, and companies that are doing it know that today’s traveler cares about a lot more than creature comforts.”
Fogo Island Inn received Travel + Leisure's Global Vision Award for Culture in 2013.
The 2017 readers’ survey will be published in the August issue of the Travel + Leisure magazine.
