Public session on Monday in Lewisporte with Nalcor’s Jim Keating

Discussion on Newfoundland and Labrador’s offshore oil and gas industry and a new era of exploration

On Monday, Nov. 27 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall in Lewisporte, Nalcor Energy executive vice president – Offshore Development and Corporate Services, Jim Keating, will be in attendance for a public session in a joint effort presented by the Town of Lewisporte and the Lewisporte and Area Chamber of Commerce.

The following was supplied to The Pilot for information on what the session will focus on:

Newfoundland and Labrador has entered a new era in frontier oil exploration and development and the province’s resources are attracting the attention of the global industry.

Building on 20 years of proven production success, Nalcor Energy is driving a world class exploration data acquisition program that is shedding new oil and gas insights on the nearly two dozen basins surrounding the province.

As the provincial energy company, Nalcor Energy undertakes strategic investments in new data acquisition and analysis at the front end of the exploration cycle to enhance knowledge of the prospectivity of offshore Newfoundland and Labrador’s frontier basins, open new areas to industry exploration, and increase Newfoundland and Labrador’s global competitiveness to attract exploration investment.

Presentation highlights:

· Overview of the oil and gas potential for offshore Newfoundland and Labrador;

· Present Nalcor’s exploration strategy and the role that this strategy is playing in finding new oil and gas resources for the province and how the strategy is reducing risk and uncertainty for global investment; and

· Provide an overview of what the future oil and gas potential for Newfoundland and Labrador could hold.
