Lewisporte welcomes Santa to town

The sounds and sights of spirit and celebration were in the air, complete with Christmas “miracle” at the annual Santa Claus Parade in Lewisporte Saturday evening.

The rain that fell all day held off and eventually turned to snow by the time floats began rolling down Main Street.

The parade started its procession to the Lewisporte Lions Club at 7 p.m. from the Mall parking lot with float judging taking place prior to the start.

Carquest Lewisporte’s Disney inspired “Mater” took first place in the competition.

This year’s parade route travelled down Main Street to Premier Drive, turning at Centennial Drive on to Bowater Avenue and concluding at the Lions Center.

The annual parade was well attended with revellers lining the route to get a chance to see Jolly St. Nick make his way through town.
