Nov. 26 — Freake’s Ambulance is hosting their fifth annual Christmas food bank and toy drive. Drop by the Lewisporte Mall parking lot 11 a.m. – 4p.m. with donations of non-perishable food items or toys for children. Donations are also greatly appreciated.
Nov. 30 — The RCMP Children’s Wish Tree will be lite up at 7 p.m. Every $25 donation will change a bulb from red to white and help raise funds to grant a wish for a child with a life threatening illness.
Dec. 1 — The annual Christmas tree lighting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the town hall. Major Lorne Hiscock will be accompanied by 617 Dambusters Air Cadets for some carol singing. Hot chocolate and candy canes will be served by Salvation Army Community Care.
Dec. 3 — Santa kicks off his visit to Lewisporte with breakfast at the Lions Club at 9 a.m. Tickets for the event are available at B&B Printers and Needs Convenience on Main Street. Tickets must be purchased prior to the event as they won’t be available at the door. Bring along your camera to get a photo with Santa.
The fun continues with the annual Santa Claus parade at 7 p.m. Floats are asked to be at the Lewisporte Mall parking lot for judging at 6:30 p.m. People are asked to contact the town office at 535-2737 on or before Nov. 25 to confirm participation. There will be prizes awarded for Best Decorated commercial float, service group float, youth group float and family float. The route will travel down through Lewisporte on to Premier Drive, turning on to Centennial Drive, down Bowater Avenue and concluding at the Lewisporte Lion’s Club where Santa will be handing out loot bags to the children.
Dec. 5 — The official opening of the Kinsmen Club of Notre Dame Happy Tree gets underway at 7 p.m. at the Lewisporte Mall.
Dec. 17 — Santa will be stopping by to see everyone in Norris Arm. The parade starts 10 a.m. at the Boys and Girls Club and everyone is encouraged to take part. Following the parade, Santa will be returning to the club for photos and to hand out loot bags.
