Scaring up some fun in Lewisporte with the annual haunted hike

Want to scare up some Halloween fun?

The annual haunted hike in Lewisporte is set for Oct. 22 at Woolfrey’s Pond Municipal

Why not take part in the third annual Haunted Hike at Woolfrey’s Pond Park in Lewisporte?

Special events coordinator Gary Jacobs said the event is scheduled for Oct. 22 from 5-7 p.m.

“Last year there was about 300 people participating (attended) and we’d like to make this year bigger and better,” he said. “Without sufficient participation the hike won’t go ahead.”

In previous years businesses, organizations, school classes and volunteers took part. Participants decorate a campsite for visitors who will make their way through the haunted hike. In the past there have been fortune tellers, vampires, witches and more.

“We (town) have some decorations that can be borrowed and used to help decorate a site,” Jacobs said.

Also, the sponsoring organizations is offering a $100 financial contribution to youth and non-profit organizations to help with decorations at their site. All reusable decorations purchased or borrowed will be returned to the town for future use.

Anyone with decorations they would like to donate to the town for the haunted hike can contact Jacobs at 535-2737. The deadline to book a campsite is Oct. 14.
