FORTUNE, NL — A singer-songwriter with ties to the Burin Peninsula is looking to take her music back to where it all began.

Michelle Noftall, who lives in Conception Bay South, launched her new album “Roots in the Water” in St. John’s this past November.

Music on the album was inspired by the life of her great-grandfather James Inniss, who arrived in Fortune as a stowaway at the age of 14, and spent his adult life in the community.

Noftall will be playing a concert at the Fortune Lions Club on May 12.
