With municipal elections in Newfoundland and Labrador just over a month away, Newfoundland Power is reminding candidates about the placement of signage.
According to a letter being distributed by the company, election signs or other obstructions are not allowed on or in close proximity to electricity poles on which employees are required to work.
Doing so can present serious hazards, the company pointed out, including affecting the ability of workers to safely climb poles. Staples or nails may also damage the protective insulated gloves worn by workers.
Newfoundland Power employees and contractors have been instructed to remove any signage that interferes with their work.
