Lewisporte’s first Syrian family arrives safely

It’s been a year in the making, but Lewisporte welcomed it’s first Syrian family on March 17. The family arrived at the Gander Airport at 11 p.m. Talika Morjan, who arrived in Lewisporte late last June, was overjoyed over being reunited with her son and family.

It was a tearful reunion as Talika Morjan greeted her family at the Gander Airport last night. Morjan arrived in Lewisporte from Syria in June 2016 and has been waiting since then to see her family
Members of the Lewisporte Refugee committee, Gander committee and Syrian families from Gander gathered at the Gander Airport to welcome Lewisporte’s newest residents.
