Accused murderer makes court appearance

Chesley (CJ) Lucas has been formally charged with murder, forcible confinement, arson and robbery.

Chesley (CJ) Lucas is led into provincial court in St. John's Thursday. Lucas is the fourth man charged in the connection with the murder of Steven Miller, who was found dead in a C.B.S. driveway last week.

Lucas, who was arrested in Halifax Tuesday after a Canada-wide warrant was issued, is the fourth person charged in the murder of 25-year-old Steven Miller, who was found dead in Conception Bay South last week.

Lucas was charged and remanded to Her Majesty’s Penitentiary. His next court appearance will be via videolink from HMP Aug. 24. Two others charged in the murder will also appear via videolink on that date — co-accused 26-year-old Calvin Kenny, and 19-year-old Kyle Morgan.

The fourth man charged in Miller’s murder — 35-year-old Paul Connolly — will appear via videolink Aug. 25 on this and other, earlier unrelated charges.
