Environment Canada issues another storm warning for Port aux Basques

Environment Canada has issued a Wreckhouse wind warning for Channel-Port aux Basques and surrounding areas. Their forecast predicts southeasterly wind gusts up to 80 kilometres per hour this afternoon and 120 kilometres per hour this evening.

The area is also expected to see 5 to 10 centimetres of snow beginning this afternoon, ice pellets and freezing rain this evening, which will be followed by 20 mm of rain.

Marine Atlantic has adjusted this morning’s 11:45 am sailing time to 11:00 am, 45 minutes earlier than normal, and has advised that this evening’s sailings between Port aux Basques and North Sydney may also be impacted by the storm.
