Woman alleged to have stolen from Happy Valley-Goose Bay gas station busted with impaired getaway driver

An alleged theft at a gas station in Happy Valley-Goose Bay on the afternoon of Sept. 7 has resulted in charges against a man and a woman.

According to a RCMP release, police located the vehicle used to leave the scene in the town shortly after the incident occurred.

A 34-year-old woman from Happy Valley-Goose Bay was arrested and is facing theft charges.

A 40-year-old man, also from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, who was driving the vehicle showed signs of being impaired by alcohol and subsequently provided breath samples nearly three times over the legal limit, the release indicated.

He will face charges for operating a motor vehicle while impaired with an alcohol level exceeding the legal limit.

The woman and man were both later released from custody and will appear in provincial court in Happy Valley-Goose Bay at a later date.
