It has been an exciting week at the Calypso Foundation. With the Fantasy Auction only days away, plans for the evening are finalized.

This year's auctioneer is no stranger to the area, at least not his voice. Radio announcer Roger Barnett from K-Rock will be taking to the microphone to auction off the goods at the 23 annual Calypso Auction on May 9.

LEWISPORTE - It has been an exciting week at the Calypso Foundation.

Mr. Barnett has been a radio celebrity in Central Newfound-land for over 30 years. Auction coordinator Peggy Greene said Mr. Barnett is donating his time and talents to the auction.

With only one auctioneer, Calypso manager Colleen Barrett said Mr. Barnett may be seeking the help of the audience.

Mr. Barrett could be calling on audience members to come on stage and assist him with auctioning off items, explained Ms. Greene.

"We felt it would add to the enjoyment and fun of the evening," said Ms. Barrett.

As in previous years, there will be a break part way through the evening at which time finger foods - donated by area businesses and prepared by the Kinsmen - will be served.

As in previous years there will be a silent auction, prize packages, card game, arms length ticket game and trivia challenge in addition to the auction itself.

With the auction only days away, anyone wondering about the status of tickets for the event can contact Kim Baker at the Calypso office. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for viewing of auction items and wine tasting with the auction scheduled to commence at 7 p.m. sharp.

For further information on the auction, visit the Calypso website at www.calypsofoundation.googlepages.com/home.

"We're getting down to the nitty gritty now," said Ms. Barrett.
