Barry Perry (right), president and CEO of Fortis Inc., presents a cheque for $3,250,000 to General Rick Hillier (left) and Tom Foran, co-chairs of the "Where Once They Stood We Stand" capital campaign during a ceremony at The Rooms Thursday afternoon. The donation contributes towards the province's commemoration of the First World War and will enable the completion of The Royal Newfoundland Regiment Gallery and The Rooms Site which will include the Fortis Courtyard and Amphitheatre on the exterior grounds of The Rooms. Both will offer a space for the public to contemplate the sacrifices of those who served in the First World War and to be used as a venue for outdoor performances and programs. — Photo by Joe Gibbons/The Telegram
