Sunday afternoon’s game at the Eastlink Events Centre (EEC) was much closer than Saturday night’s matchup, as the Clarenville Ford Caribous needed a shootout to down the visiting Gander Flyers, 5-4.

While the Caribous led 4-2 in the third period, the Flyers managed to tie the game to send the contest to overtime.

After no goals were scored in the extra frame, Clarenville edged Gander two goals to one in a shootout to claim two points in the standings.

The Flyers outshot the ‘Bous in regulation and overtime 50-37.

Next weekend, it’s the Flyers’ turn to play host at the Steele Community Centre in Gander, as the league-leading Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts come to town.
