Actor Jonathan Majors has been accused of multiple assaults and harassment

(CNN) actor Jonathan Majors He was arrested Sunday on multiple assault and harassment charges, the Manhattan DA’s office tells CNN.

The complaint did not name the woman accused, but the defendant “struck her in the face with an open hand, causing considerable pain and an injury behind her ear.”

She states that the defendant “put his hand around her neck, causing bruising and considerable pain.”

CNN has reached out to representatives for Majors for comment on his investigation.

A judge released Majors on his own recognizance and granted him a limited immunity, according to the DA’s office.

Majors’ attorney told CNN Sunday that “we have two written statements from the woman denying these allegations,” and that they are “providing evidence to the DA, including video footage from the vehicle where the episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others.” Both have seen and heard that episode.”

Prosecutor Priya Chaudhary expects the charges to be dropped.

The Manhattan DA’s office did not comment on the defense attorney’s claims, which the woman denied.

Majors, who recently starred in “Creed III” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” was arrested Saturday morning in a domestic dispute, New York police told CNN over the weekend.

Majors, 33, was arrested following a 911 call from an apartment in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, according to a New York Police Department statement.

In addition to his recent high-profile roles, including an Emmy nomination for his role on HBO’s “Lovecraft Country,” Majors is poised to be a key part of the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
